ASSOCIATED GROUPS

FINN-BRIT PLAYERS RY

The Finn-Brit Players is a Helsinki-based amateur drama society whose origins date back to the early 1950s. Since becoming active again in 1981, the company has staged musicals, murder mysteries, classics, comedies, Shakespeare, children’s entertainment, and drama. The group currently produces at least two productions a year in addition to organising smaller events, theatre workshops, social events, play readings and more.

FOLK CLUB

The International Folk Club met regularly for singing and playing on the first Friday of each month.

THE HELSINKI MORRISERS

Morris dancing is an old English dance form, going back to medieval times and boasting a mention in Shakespeare. True to the tradition the Helsinki Morrisers are energetic, but not too much, and prefer to laugh rather than cry when things go wrong. Inability to tell left from right is no handicap with us.
We practise on the first Friday and third Sunday of nearly every month at the FBS.

FINNBRIT LADIES

The FinnBrit Ladies continued their monthly meetings on the fist Tuesday of each month.
They organised several cultural events during the year.

NURSERY RHYME GROUP

A weekend playgroup for British and Finnish-British families. A place where the kids can sing nursery rhymes and play with each other and the adults can have a coffee and a chat. The group is aimed at families that are either fully English speaking or have at least one native English speaking parent.

THE REALLY SMALL THEATRE COMPANY

The Really Small Theatre Company was formed in Helsinki in 2005 to mount plays with tiny casts and minimal fuss. The cast are also the crew. The RSTC brings English language works to almost any kind of venue, in and beyond Helsinki. They have even played in a private home.

THE ENGLISH-SPEAKING WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION

Monthly meetings at the FINNBRIT.
