The Finnish-British Society arranges different types of cultural programmes for its members and other interested people. Music performances, talks, visits to exhibitions, competitions and more.
Under the auspices of the Society there are also clubs for special interests, such as The Finn-Brit Players, The Helsinki Morrisers, The International Folk Club, the Nursery Rhyme group and the English Speaking Women who arrange their own programmes on a regular basis.

Late March: A Canadian Evening
A speaker from Canadian Society about modern issues in Canada. A joint event with the Finnish-Canadian Society.
Late April - Play: A Single Bride
A play written by local actress and playwright Zoë Chandler and performed by the Finn-Brit Players

In honour of the 200th anniversary of the birth this comic and cosmopolitan English writer
June: Park Olympicks – see FBS website for details
A foretaste of Herculean efforts and antics expected later in the summer in London. This event will be more similar to Roger Dover's original Costwold Olimpicks with local contests like tug-of-war, shin kicking and dwile-flonking in an absolutely amateur atmosphere. Wife-carrying will not be featured.

Finnish-British Society r.y. järjestää 28. kerran valtakunnallisen englanninkielisen kirjoituskilpailun vuonna 2011 lukion opiskelun alkaneille oppilaille. Kirjoituspäivä on tiista 13.maaliskuuta tai keskiviikko 14. maaliskuuta 2012. Kirjoituskilpailun ohjeet ovat ohessa. AIKA tiistai 13.maaliskuuta tai keskiviikko 14. maaliskuuta 2012.
OSALLISTUJAT Lukion ensimmäisen vuoden oppilaat.Paras aine kustakin englannin ryhmästä. Sanakirjaa tai muuta lähdemateriaalia ei saa käyttää. Kirjoituskilpailuun varattava aika on 90 minuuttia. Aineen pituus 200 - 250 sanaa. Yli 300-sanaisia aineita ei oteta huomioon eikä sellaisia pidä lähettää arvosteltavaksi. (Artikkelit ja prepositiot lasketaan mukaan.)
ARVOSTELULAUTAKUNTA
Arvostelulautakuntaan kuuluvat opetushallituksen, Helsingin yliopiston, englannin kielen opettajien yhdistyksen, ja Finnish-British Societyn edustajat.
PALKINNOT Kilpailun pääpalkinto on Englannin matka. Muina palkintoina on englannin sanakirjoja.
AINEIDEN PALAUTUS Koulun englannin opettajien harkinnan ja päätöksen mukaan lähetetään paras (1) aine kustakin englannin ryhmästä 20.4.2012 mennessä osoitteeseen:

Jokaiseen lähetettävään aineeseen tulee liittää kirjoittajan nimi, ikä, osoite, kuinka monta vuotta englantia ko. oppilas on opiskellut sekä koulun nimi ja osoite.
Tiedot voittajista toimitetaan kouluille 27.4.2012 mennessä. Finnish-British Society pidättää itsellään omistus- ja julkaisuoikeuden lähetettyihin kirjoituksiin.
